This is the final meeting of the 2022 season and as always the course will prove a test of golf for everyone. This is a real members meet where you get your chance to "have your say" on everything that has happened throughout the season and more importantly what you would like to see next in the 2023 season.
Before moving on there are items that need to be addressed such as Who is the Champion Golfer 2022? well the answer is on the web site if you look under the Results Tab on the website WWW.SWTGS.CO,UK.
We need a Captain for the 2023 season and the President and Secretary do have some members in mind to approach so all will be revealed at the AGM. A Captain Elect is also required so again this will be reaveled at this meeting.
Whilst there is always a temptation to fill the schedule with "Old favourites", we are always looking for new courses to play. Get your thinking caps on and perhaps a "Welsh Venue" will be a welcolmed addition to the tour. Gloucestershire although we do play Stinchcombe Hill is another neglected County,
The "Major" course we played this year was Woodbury Park and that certainly wasnt without a "Major Incident" Luckily all Yorkie Bars survived without injuy but sadly Mike Monelle faired less well. I understand he is making good and steady progress and hopefully Mike and his Yorkies will be reunited for the 2023 season.
The courses this year have certainly tested us all at times but have offered us some wonderful golf days with plently of sunshine and courses in excellent condition. As we all get that little bit older, i think the courses we play are within the scope of the playing ability of the society. So get lets continue this in 2023 and have some more great days out.
Finally it is great to see some new members and over this season we have had 35 different players take part. Whilst this is a great improvement from when Neil & I took over, it would be great to increase this number even further. To all those who have brought guests and then have become members - a big thank you. Whilst many societies are struggling to keep going, it a fanstatic acheivement by everyone to see the South West Transport Golf Society flourish in these time.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at Weston Super Mare and dont forget to bring a bottle. This is revieving an old tradition of the society.
