Cumberwell Park - The End of The Wiltshire Swing For 2018
Another glorious day at Cumberwell Park enjoyed by another excellent turnout despite a high number of absentee members due to holidays and other commitments, With 21 players eager to test their skills on the Blue & Yellow Courses, a three man bowmaker was played with the best score on the front 9 (Blue Course) and all 3 scores to Count on the back 9 (Yellow Course).
With some challenging Par 3's on both 9's the scoring was excellent and John Bingham took the honours with being closest on the 16th Green, a simple Par 3 over water and the pin guarded by a bunker, The other winners were Mark Jenkins (6th) Jack Seymour (8th) and Leighton Jenkins (12th). Well done to everyone. A special mention to Andy Chapple who has provided tape measures for all future Par 3's
The Singles was almost a closely contested affair with a runaway winner scoring a real score of 23 Points. Well done Mr Tottle, but this has resulted in a loss of 2 shots until next August. Probably Mr Consistent Leighton Jenkins thought he had done enough with a score of 21 points but alas finished the bridesmaid once again. On Countback Mr Alan Cook took 3rd place with a score of 20 points.
The team prize went to Neil & Jack Seymour ablely assisted by the top of the leaderboard regular Mr Kevin Atkins with a score of 96 points.
Second place went to what another prize Mr Alan Cook (can I really carry home this much booze), John Watkins and yours truly Stephen Seymour.
All can be found in the members area for those who want to see where they finished. Just type in Cumberwell Park.
The last 3 meetings have been supported to a level not seen in recent times so a big thank you to everyone who are making a real difference to the society.
Next Stop Oake Manor Golf Club on Thursday 13 September 2018. Details of this will be sent out shortly as it is the meeting where we will hold the AGM for this year. Lets hope the " Somerset Swing" is as well supported .
