The Season Finally Underway At Stinchombe Hill Golf Club
After what seemed a long break from the end of last season, we finally held our first meeting of the season at Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club on a dry and sunny day with a steady breeze. Presidents Day was well supported despite a couple of late withdrawals. Paul Brown injuring himself playing cricket.
The Society's shirts were handed out to all the members who attended and I am glad to report that each members shirt fitted them as ordered.
John Watkins and Stephen Seymour led the way and as the competitions started in earnest, it was clear that the greens were going to prove difficult to read and provide a challenge. The team game was a pairs better ball and this was won on countback by Ian Adams and the ever reliable Graham Brunsdon ( another 2 shots gone) from Neil Seymour and Jack Seymour both scoring 41 Points.
The singles Stableford played on the back nine was won again on Countback by Kevin Atkins with a score of 19 Points from Ian (yes my handicap is real) Adams. Handicap adjustments will be made.
Handicap Adjustments - Ian Adams & Graham Brunsdon -2 Neil Seymour & Jack Seymour -1 (team games)
Handicap Adjustments - Kevin Atkins -2 Ian Adams -1 (Singles Stableford)
Prizes were provided by the President and these were duly awarded to the winners and runner up.
The Par 3 Competition has commenced and the leaders with a narrow lead on 14 are Graham Brunsdon, Murray Parsons Dave Buckland & Dave Thompson. Full breakdown on the web site .
The raffle was won by John Bingham who collected a dozen Titleist Pro V's with the society logo.
Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club provided a fun challenge for everyone. Played in a record time for the society with everyone finishing in less than 4 Hours!! The Pro Paul Bushell was very helpful and the food was good. I am sure we will be going back once again.
The next meeting is on Friday 22nd June 2018 at the Manor House Golf Club at Castle Coombe. Buggies are included in the outstanding price of £45.00 per person. (Numbers are restricted to a maximum of 32 people so priority is given to members)
